More Information on Germicidal Special Application Fluorescent Light Bulbs:
Germicidal light bulbs are not for everybody, but they are very useful and necessary in many water purification devices. Typically, you know you need a germicidal bulb when you see a G6, G8, G10, etc. on the bulb that has burned out. While the G stands for germidicidal, the number after refers to the wattage. Incidentally, the higher the wattage, the longer the bulb will be. Using the same basic technology as regular fluorescent bulbs, with the exception of the phosphors lining the tube, these bulbs will kill harmful bacteria and help remove dangerous and/or unwanted material from water or other substances. For obvious reasons, Service Lighting does not recommend using this type of light bulb in direct line of sight or contact with people or pets. Make sure you match the bulb you have with the correct replacement germicidal lamp in this list.
