Finding a replacement light bulb is not as easy as it used to be. With the addition of hundreds of new lighting products every year, the industry just keeps on growing. The only downside to this is that it can be harder to sort through the thousands of choices and find the right bulb. Well, that's where Service Lighting comes in. We stay on top of the lighting industry for you, and we make sure finding the right light bulb is fast and stress-free. If you've ever tried getting help at a store like Home Depot or Lowe's, you most likely know how frustrating it is when the person trying to help you isn't a real light bulb expert. At Service Lighting, all we do is light bulbs, fixtures, and accessories. We are truly the industry experts that have the knowledge and experience to make your search a breeze.

Light bulbs come in certain major varieties: Incandescent, Fluorescent, Compact Fluorescent, Metal Halide, and LED. While newer technologies are what many people are looking for now, the tried-and-true stalwart of the group is the incandescent bulb. Invented well over 100 year ago, today's Incandescent and Halogen Light Bulb is very similar in design to the earliest models. The warm light color is something people really enjoy. The low up-front cost of the bulb is another major incentive for people to continue to use standard light bulbs as well. These bulbs use heat to product light and as a result, they are relatively inefficient light sources. When over 90% of the energy that gets used by the light converts into heat, I wouldn't consider the incandescent light bulbs "summertime" bulbs; they'll heat up the house at the same time you are running the air conditioner to cool it down!

Fluorescent and Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs are really becoming the mainstay of the light bulb world right now, thanks to a really long average life and a very large energy savings. These bulbs use only 25-30% of the energy that incandescent bulbs use to produce the same amount of light. They are getting smaller and less expensive every year, which means it's getting easier to put them in more places around the home and office. If light bulbs were cars, these would be the hybrid electrical vehicles; you'll spend more getting the bulb, but you'll save every time you turn the light on, over all of the 10,000 average hours of life. That adds up, and the savings overwhelmingly exceed the high initial cost.

LED Light Bulb technology is still developing, but shows a lot of promise for the near future. There's a decent chance that the next time you change out your compact fluorescent bulbs (when they finally burn out), you'll be putting an LED in its place. The name of the game with these bulbs energy efficiency. You can typically count on using only a tenth of the energy than you would with an incandescent bulb. LED bulbs are also very durable since the don't have filaments inside--the very things that cause a standard bulb to burn out.
