Standard twist compact fluorescent bulbs are quickly becoming the world's standard in home and office lighting. They provide real, significant energy savings and extremely long life cycles when compared to the old style incandescent lighting. Newer technologies in CFL bulbs are allowing manufacturers to provide smaller bulbs that can provide full light output instantly when turned on. In the past, people found they could not fit compact fluorescent twist bulbs in all of their fixtures due to the size of the bulb. Many of today's CFL's are actually smaller than a normal 60 watt light bulb, so that is a much smaller factor in deciding what model to buy. To determine which wattage you need, take your current bulb's wattage and divide by four. That is roughly the wattage you will need for your new compact fluorescent bulb. As you can see in the page above, we offer a wide variety of wattages for you to choose from. Once you select the one you want, you will find many more options, like color temperature and manufacturer, to give you even more flexibility. Keep in mind, the higher the color temperature of the bulb, the whiter the light. If you want a warm, yellow-orange glow, like incandescent bulbs provide, buy a CFL in the 2,700 or 3,000 range. Also keep in mind, the higher the wattage, the larger the bulb will be.
