These ballasts are used in fixtures where circular fluorescent bulbs (referred to as Circline) are used, which may include kitchens, bathrooms, and offices. Often times, these will have two Circline bulbs in them, running off the same ballast. While Sylvania and Robertson supply ballasts in this department, Universal Ballast has the most options available. T2 and T5 lighting, like all fluorescent bulbs, needs ballasts, too, and Sylvania has this area covered beautifully. In case you see the word Pentron prominently displayed on your bulb or old ballast, that is Sylvania's brand name for their T5 light bulbs. T5's are quite thin at 5/8 inch, and are able to be placed in fixtures in narrower places. Accordingly, the T5 ballasts are more thin than T8 or T12 ballasts, as they also need to fit well into smaller fixtures.
