What do you do when you want variations of illumination levels in the lamps you
use in your home or office? That's where these lamps are most commonly
used. People have wanted a low light output and at other times they
want all the light they can get and sometimes having table lamps on a dimmer is
not possible. These are the standard size bulbs which you might be familiar with,
the ones you've probably bought for years in hardware stores except they have a
function of various light levels. These 3-way soft white bulbs are usually
the most common solution when you need this kind of lighting. One of the
aspects of this light that makes it so popular is the soft white color. It
makes a wonderful contrast to almost any kind of task you may be doing under
this light. For most people, the soft white color is what they choose as a
reading light where more contrast is often better for that need. You might
also know them as 3-way household light bulbs and have the same general size as
standard bulbs. The "A"
shape was one of the first designs and continues to still be the one most people
use. It has a
standard medium base and screws into sockets that are made for all kinds of
lighting.
There are several
different varieties of these lamps in wattage but sometimes also in color as
well. Some of the most popular wattage configurations are the 50/100/150
and the 30/70/100 soft white. These are numbers that pertain to the
various watts for each setting. These are the probably the two most common
3-way lights and we keep these in stock always. Along with the soft white,
there are also other colors which include full spectrum, soft pink and GE Enrich.
We even have them in a double life version that Sylvania makes and that works
well for people who are not satisfied with the life they get from these lamps.
There is also a higher wattage 3-way light bulb which is the 50/250 and that is
one that many older people prefer as a reading light. The light output is
far greater than anything else you can get right now, the high end is 250 watts.
Lately, people have been concerned about the kind of like that they're working
under or living under. That's why so many people are turning to what is
called full spectrum lighting.
The term full spectrum is most often used when referring to fluorescents that
simulate natural outdoor light. But the
3-way light bulbs are also available in this full spectrum version and can give
you the great light color that people identify as whiter and more like outdoor
daylight. It's an incandescent with special
coatings that has the warmer tones filtered out. However, the term full spectrum
is primarily used when referring to those lamps that fall into the white to
blue/white color temperature range. Most of the 3-way full spectrum light
bulbs use a blue phosphor coating which you can see when you look at it without
being energized.
