The ability to put a directed beam of higher wattage in a small package is what makes this lamp great for many applications.  Sylvania put a halogen capsule light in a small reflector to give a great amount of light output while delivering good beam control. The Sylvania is unique in it's construction where it has an enclosure of ceramic around the lamp itself for excellent heat dissipation. Sylvania 60PAR16 halogen bulbs will often have a ceramic covering over the neck of the bulb, just above the Edison (medium) base.  If your PAR16 doesn't have this, don't worry. The bulb will function mostly the same as one that does have this covering.  It's more a matter of design, but we do believe that the Sylvania product is superior for its heat dissipation.

Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs, just like the typical R20 flood bulbs we have been using in lamps for years and years. Halogen bulbs, however, are filled with a special gas that actually rebuilds the filament and provides longer average life than normal incandescent bulbs. The 60PAR16 halogen light bulbs are flood shaped with the heavy, thick glass as a protective cover. The word PAR stands for parabolic aluminized reflector.  The 60PAR16 halogen bulb is a small flood bulb and are not as large as many halogen flood bulbs available. You can tell what kind of PAR lamp you have by measuring the distance across the widest point of the bulb. 60PAR16 lamps are 2 inches across and they are 60 watts.  They have standard bases and are able to be used indoors or outdoors. This means they can be directly exposed to rain or snow and still function normally and they do not need to be covered by a light fixture.

Sylvania generally calls their halogen line Capsylite and within that category are many different configurations of light bulbs. The variety ranges from standard halogen light bulbs to bipin halogen to the full spectrum variety called Daylight Plus. There are also track lighting bulbs, indoor floods and indoor/outdoor PAR floods.  Whatever the lighting need, there probably is a Sylvania lamp that will work correctly in that situation.  ServiceLighting.com is an online light bulb company that offers the entire Sylvania catalog for purchase over the web. So whether you need halogen, fluorescent or HID sources, we'll have the right bulb for your need. In this case, we have the breadth of the entire offering of 60PAR16 halogen light in flood or spot beam patterns.

From your local retailer to finer homes, you will most likely find a 60PAR16 halogen bulbs in track and recessed lighting. The small size of these reflector lamps make it possible to put them in almost any small space.  Many people also use these halogen PAR16 bulbs for showcasing trophies, jewelry, art work, sculptures, etc. and when shown under this light will appear more brilliant.  In the case of retail lighting, the way you light something can make the difference in selling something or not.  If you're not sure which wattage of PAR16 you have or have questions about the application, please call us and talk to one of our friendly customer service people.
