One of the more unusual lamps used today are the BR25 flood light bulbs.  While they're not unusual from the standpoint of what they look like, it's just that the size is special.  These flood light bulbs are small enough to use in almost any recessed or track lighting fixture and are slightly smaller across the face than the BR30 flood.  Sometimes it's just the only thing that will fit in certain fixtures.  The most common wattage is the 75 or 100 watt BR25 sometimes also called the 75BR25 or 100BR25 flood light.  They fit almost anywhere, including the eyeball fixtures which can turn in almost any direction.  When it comes to lighting up a home, office or retail store, these incandescent light bulbs have a special size which is usually called for in certain brands of track lighting.  Some people don't like them because they sometimes have a shorter life, but that is only true in some cases.  When compared to regular incandescent lighting, ours are longer lasting than the store bought kind because they are 130 volt if you choose them from our store that way.

The range of wattages are good in the BR25 flood light bulbs. They come in 75 or 100 watts and most fixtures require a limit of 100 watts with the BR25.  For most installations, they are used in recessed lighting with a 4 inch or 3 1/2 opening and can be dimmed with a standard incandescent dimmer.  In many types of lighting applications, the dimming capability is what makes it a wonderful choice for dining rooms, kitchens or high ceiling lighting for large rooms.  The places where the BR25 flood light can be used are endless and have probably been used in ways it was never intended.  If you have track lighting, then it probably makes sense to upgrade to a halogen PAR20 which will give you more light with a greater variety of beam patterns.  The BR25 is sold in a flood or spot.  The spot will provide a tighter beam for areas where you want a focused light.  The BR25 is 3.1 inches across the face if you're measuring it for identification purposes.

With the advent of higher electrical costs, many businesses are looking for ways to save energy with lighting.  Obviously, compact fluorescent flood light bulbs are the perfect choice to replace higher wattage incandescent BR25 flood light bulbs and save energy.  Just look for areas where you might use BR25 incandescent light bulbs and find the right replacement on our web site.  You might need to choose a PAR20 halogen or an R20 compact fluorescent.  In either case, you will find a great reduction in your electrical bill while still getting the amount of light that you want.  Keep an eye out for electric utility rebates in your area which might be available for compact fluorescent flood light bulbs.  This is more true in commercial lighting than it is for residential as they are a larger user of electricity during the day or high demand times. When replacing your outdated incandescent with compact fluorescent, make sure that the light is not on a dimmer. Putting non-dimmable fluorescent on a dimming circuit could cause a fire. We have the dimming compact fluorescent bulbs also, so you'll need to ask for them specifically. Please note that your energy savings can be very significant when changing from incandescent flood lights to fluorescent flood lights over almost any other kind of retrofit.
