Sylvania is one of the most innovative companies when it comes to halogen technology. In fact, they were the company that originated this fine product which changed how people use light.  They put a halogen capsule light in a bulb or reflector to give a great amount of light output while delivering good efficiency. The Capsylite halogen light bulbs are unique in their construction and has some of the highest quality standards of any manufacturer. Capsylite is Sylvania's brand name for it's line of halogen light bulbs. Although other manufacturers make a halogen product, we do believe that the Sylvania product is superior for its heat dissipation and beam clarity and consistency.  Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs, just like the typical incandescent bulbs, however, they are filled with a special gas that actually rebuilds the filament and provides longer average life than standard incandescent bulbs.  The Sylvania halogen light bulbs have many shapes but the most common are flood shaped with the heavy, thick glass that is common to many medium to large sized halogen bulbs.

Many times, this type of lamp is used as a flood light in track lighting or recessed lighting and is known as a PAR lamp.  You can tell what size of PAR lamp you have by measuring the distance across the face of the bulb. The number after 'PAR' represents the number of eighths of an inch the bulb diameter would be.  Therefore, if you have PAR16 lamps, they are 16/8 of an inch or 2 inches. Of course, there are a wide range of other sizes including PAR20, PAR36, PAR38 and so on. So no matter what type of lighting you have, there's probably a halogen lamp that will give you better light and performance. They have standard bases and are able to be used indoors or outdoors. This means they can be directly exposed to rain or snow and still function normally and they do not need to be covered by a light fixture.

Here's a helpful tip about lighting a retail space with these Capsylite halogen light bulbs. Try to make the area you're attempting to light a true highlight, by making the illumination three to five times as bright as the surrounding ambient light. This will cause attention to be drawn to the highlighted area. In many cases, people will be drawn to those areas, so it's good to have product or something featured for people to look at. It sounds too simple, but doing this makes a difference in how you market product or what kind of statement you're making with what your trying to display.  Another good aspect of the Capsylite is the way it uses less energy to create a certain amount of illumination.  You can save energy while still getting a superior light, that's why so many people use them in track lighting.

From businesses to retail stores, you will most likely find Sylvania Capsylite halogen light bulbs in service. The medium size of these reflector lamps make it possible to put them in almost any track or recessed lighting.  Remember that there are many types of Sylvania bulbs, this is just an overview of the most common halogen used in home or commercial lighting here. Whatever type you choose, you will be saving energy while getting the most light you can for your money. If you need help identifying the bulb you have, our customer service representatives can help you determine what you have.
