Many people have wanted to replace their smaller flood lamps with PAR30 compact fluorescent flood light bulbs. And up until recently, getting energy savings in a flood light was difficult because of size considerations, but not anymore. Now, enough light can be produced in a small bulb which will fit in a PAR30 housing.  PAR30 compact fluorescent flood light bulbs are the smaller size which are equal to the halogen PAR30 that is commonly used in track lighting today. When compared to incandescent or halogen lighting, these are longer lasting, using much less energy making them a perfect choice for almost any type of lighting. Now if you intend to replace some of your track lights with these, know that the beam spread is very wide and you will not get any spotting effect.  These are best applied to create general lighting throughout a space.  There are several kinds of compact flood types which include the regular household base, among them are the PAR30 as well as PAR38, R30, and R40 sizes to replace almost any flood light you may be using now. The PAR30 is a suitable replacement up to a 75 watt PAR30, which along with the 50 watt are probably the most common flood light in use today.  These are also rated for outdoor use as they are suitable for wet location and are instant on, so there's no flickering when they come on.

With higher electrical costs today, many businesses are looking for ways to save energy with lighting.  Obviously, PAR30 compact fluorescent flood light bulbs are the perfect choice to replace higher wattage incandescent or halogen flood lamps.  Just look for areas where you might use PAR30 incandescent light bulbs and find the right replacement on our web site.  The PAR30 has a diameter of 3 3/4" inches across the face of the reflector.  In the interior of a home or office, a 6" or 5" recessed can light or track lighting would be the most common type of fixture which uses these. These bulbs also have an elongated neck, so they'll fit into tight fixtures with a deeper socket.  You will find a great reduction in your electrical bill while still getting the amount of general light that you want.  When replacing your outdated incandescent with compact fluorescent, make sure that the light is not on a dimmer. Putting non-dimmable fluorescent on a dimming circuit could cause a fire. We have the dimming compact fluorescent bulbs also, so you'll need to ask for them specifically.  In either case, you can finally get the look you want in a bulb and still get great lighting too.

As with all fluorescent bulbs, they rely on ballasts inside of the fixtures or units to make them work. The ballast is important because it is specific for each type of lamp.  You can't change from one type of fluorescent to another without changing the ballast in most cases.  Most of the time though, the ballast and the lamp are matched electrically and so it's good to make sure the ballast you have is the right one for the lamp you choose.
