One of the most important types of halogen bulbs are the kind that have a basic regular shape.  They can be used in a wide variety of applications, anywhere you put a standard incandescent bulb.  What Sylvania did was to put a halogen capsule light in a bulb to give a great amount of light output while delivering good efficiency. The Capsylite lamps are unique in their construction and has some of the highest quality standards of any competitor. Capsylite is Sylvania's brand name for it's halogen line of light bulbs. Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs, just like the regular ones we have been using in lamps for decades. Halogen bulbs, however, are filled with a special gas that rebuilds the filament and provides longer average life than normal incandescent bulbs. They come in different shapes and sizes for various different uses. The proliferation of all these types can be somewhat confusing, but it really isn't.  The Capsylite in general has many sizes but the most common are MB19, PAR lamps, bipin, MR16 and MR11 low voltage lighting.

MB19 Capsylite halogen bulbs have a heavy glass to prevent any dispersion of glass if the halogen bulb inside violently extinguishes.  It's the nature of this type of light to have some blow out of the capsule which is common to all manufacturers.  There are a couple of reasons why people use these lamps so much.  One of those reasons is the bright, white light which makes for great highlighting of products or pictures adding a special touch.  Halogen lighting makes for a more dramatic presentation over regular bulbs.  They also actually save energy as they use less watts to create the same amount of light as higher wattage incandescent lamps.  The savings can be substantial and cause a quick payback.  So you can get a better quality of light while savings energy, which sounds like a win-win for any lighting situation.  These come in several wattages including 42, 52, 60, 72 or 100 watt with the code being something like 42MB19 or 72MB19.  The MB stands for mid-break which was the shape before Sylvania made a change to a more standard A19 shape like a regular light bulb.

From your office, local retailer to homes, you will most likely find MB19 Capsylite halogen light bulbs used in standard sockets or table lamps for energy efficiency. The excellent white color make them a perfect choice for almost any space or recessed lighting.  In the case of retail lighting, the way you light something could determine how much attention it gets, so it helps to use good lighting. Remember that there are many types of halogen light bulbs, we describe just some of the common characteristics when used in home and commercial lighting. Whatever type have now, you will be getting a better quality of light while saving energy too. If you need help identifying a halogen bulb, our customer service representatives can help you determine what you have.
