Old 8mm projectors and other movie or overhead projector bulbs used to be available in your local Ben Franklin in many different varieties. Today, since those bulbs are not widely used anymore, the availability is much lower and the retail price per bulb is higher. The good part, though is that the bulbs are still manufactured and available somewhere--in select specialty lighting stores like ours, for example. While the price has gone up, the ability to be able to see priceless film from years past is very valuable and for most people it is an opportunity to show new generations a glimpse of the family and friends in decades past.

One popular idea today is converting your old movies into video tape, or even better, to DVD discs. In order to do this correctly, often times people need a replacement projector bulb to run the old films one last time during the transfer process. Since the projector bulb life is, in general, quite short, it would be a real advantage to you to at least consider converting the films.

What better way to surprise the group at your next family reunion than to bring out your old film projector and show the movies of all the good times you have spent together? It would be the hit of the party, that's for sure. How about the 40th or 50th birthday party coming up or the 50th anniversary party for your parents. Whatever the special occasion, family films really are a hit, and you can dust off that old movie projector to do the job. Replacement bulbs are easy with the convenience of online ordering and searching, you're sure to find the bulb you need right here at Service Lighting.

The method of labelling projector light bulbs is quite nice as it makes it very easy for the end user to find out what bulb they need. The only thing you need to look for is a three letter code somewhere on your bulb or on the projector. Some popular examples are EKE, EXN, DAB, CXL, and FAB. There are numerous different styles of projector lamps available, and it is really important to match the bulbs when you get a replacement. If you don't, the base, the size of the bulb, the wattage, the voltage, or some other important element would most likely not match and the new bulb would not work the same (or at all). In some cases, two or three letter codes have been combined by the manufacturer, in which case it is perfectly acceptable to use to replace either of the previous versions of the bulb. Since it can get confusing in some circumstances, please don't hesitate to call us at 800.859.8074 and one of our helpful representatives will help locate your bulb.
