Lighting Library : Non-Halogen Flood : R40 Long Life Flood Light Bulbs

It was a good thing when flood lights were developed with an extra long life, up to 10,000 hours average rated life!  People have always wanted light bulbs to last longer and not have to change them so often, that's why we offer R40 long life flood light bulbs as a part of our product offering.  Common to almost every type of lighting application has been the flood light bulbs that you buy for recessed or track lighting. These are the R40 size bulbs which you might be familiar with, the ones you've probably bought for years in hardware stores and are 5 inches inches across the face.  They fit in almost any 6 inch recessed light fixture, but one of the most common places that it's used are in recessed lighting for homes or track lighting for retail stores.  If you have this kind of lamp in a retail situation, you may want to consider using a PAR halogen to replace it.  The light will be more intense and crisp while saving energy. In that case, it's really about the highlighting your products for more sales.  It has a standard medium base and screws into sockets that are made for all kinds of US lighting.  The R40 flood lights come in 68, 90, 100, 120, 150 or 250 watts referenced as 68BR40, 90BR40, 100BR40 or 150BR40.  We even carry these in a long life 250 watt version which many people have been looking for in high lighting applications that are hard to reach.

Incandescent lamps are the type that were developed earliest of any of the other kinds and these progressed into what we know as R40 long life flood light bulbs.  It's a long history with this lamp and most of the improvements have come with longer life versions of these lamps.  The long life bulbs are the same physical size as other flood lamps but have multiple filament supports that protect against vibration and rough use.  In fact, these are sometimes called rough service or vibration service bulbs.  If you're a commercial user, then R40 long life light bulbs would be a great choice for many of the applications you have today.  Large commercial buildings are still a major user of this lamp where the labor to change out bulbs can get quite expensive.  The savings in this case can be quite extensive resulting in a quick payback on the higher cost of these bulbs.  If you have incandescent lamps anywhere in your building, they can be susceptible to vibration of slamming doors or machines being turned on and off.  These are also great lamps to be used in industrial situations on machines or in areas where manufacturing is going on.  For people who want to save energy while getting longer life, the R40 compact fluorescent would be a good way to go.  You can get a similar amount of light while reducing your electrical consumption by 75%.  Many times there are utility rebates which can help with the total cost, but even without the rebates, energy savings make it a quick payback.

If you've decided on ServiceLighting.com, you've made an excellent choice for good lighting and you're in good company. From your local retailer to finer homes to industrial lighting, you will most likely find these R40 long life flood light bulbs lighting your way.  It's easy to buy light bulbs online from our store and you will get them in a few days shipped from our warehouse in Minnesota.
