Lighting Library : T8 Fluorescents : Sylvania FO32 flourescent light bulbs

Sylvania FO32 light bulbs are becoming the new standard in fluorescent lighting applications, surpassing the older, thicker-bulb technology. The FO32 is also commonly referred to as F32T8 or simply T8 lighting. In fact, Sylvania is the only manufacturer to use F032; they use the 'O' in the description to stand for the brand name Octron. The reason for this peculiar name is that the distance across the bulb is 8 eighths of an inch. These bulbs are perfect replacements for the old style ones because they are the same length and have the same 2-pin base on each end, so there is no need to install new fixtures. A change in ballast, however, is necessary as these F032 light bulbs use electronic ballasts instead of magnetic ballasts.

The Sylvania Octron bulbs come in a wide variety of colors. Of course, when the bulbs are not lit, they look the same color. Once lit, however, they have colors ranging from 2700K, or warm white, all the way up to 6500K, or full spectrum bluish-white. The most common is 4100K, or cool white. If you need to find this model in searching our website, you can search for FO32/741. If you are trying to match up a GE or Philips bulb, you might see F32T8/741 or F32T8/SP41 on your bulb. Rest assured, these are all the same style bulb and are fully interchangeable. For a bedroom or kitchen, a warm white light might be just what you are looking for, while a garage or basement might be perfect for cool white tones. If you live in northern parts of the United States or in Canada, you might consider using full spectrum lighting to help combat winter blues. Sylvania fluorescent lighting has you covered no matter which FO32 bulb you choose.

T8 lighting is a natural fit in office lighting, and is used in most of the corporations all across our country. You will also notice a lot of F032 lighting in educational facilities, such as colleges, universities, and high schools. This type of bulb offers a special blend of flexibility and cost savings that few other lighting options can give you. The F32T8 bulb is one of the least expensive linear fluorescent bulbs available, and will fit into the most economical or the most extravagant fixtures on the market, which makes them easy to use in most any location or decor. They use 20% less energy than the previous T12 lighting does. This provides users a significant cost savings over the long life of the bulb.

You should consider bulb quality a major factor in choosing your new T8 lighting system. Sylvania invests more energy, time, and money into quality control than any other world-wide manufacturer of fluorescent lighting. You can count on many thousands of hours of high quality, reliable service from your Sylvania FO32 bulbs, and you will have a much lower chance of out-of-the-box defectives as well, saving you time and hassle during installation. We at Service Lighting have all of Sylvania's lighting catalog available to browse and buy online. If you need assistance, our professional, highly trained staff would be happy to help you find the right bulb for your application.
