There have been a number of improvements over the years on compact fluorescent plug-in types, and one of those innovations has been the Sylvania Dulux D/E or double twin tube 4 pin.  It's what some people call a 4 tube compact fluorescent or sometimes a quad fluorescent.  The reason these are so great is that it allow designers to get a dimmable compact fluorescent in a small space.  The lengths of the Sylvania Dulux D/E lamps are such that they have an ideal position for light distribution in recessed lighting. Since the invention of compact fluorescent light bulbs, users have been trying to save energy with the most efficient, small light source available. Sylvania improved upon the size making them with a higher wattage which resulted in the Dulux D/E double twin tube compact fluorescent. They look the same as their the Dulux D but these are slightly different as they have 4 pins straight across at the base instead of 2 pins diagonally set.  The design makes them a dimmable compact fluorescent when used with a dimming electronic ballast.  With some electronic ballasts, the dimming can go down to 5% of full light output, giving the ultimate in lighting flexibility.  It's usually specified by an engineer or architect as part of a new building installation where energy savings with a dimmable capability is desired. The color rendition on the lamp is very high making it an excellent choice for color sensitive areas.  One of the other significant benefits of the Dulux D/E is the integral end-of-life protection.  This means that it will extinguish itself at the end of usable life and not continue firing until overheating.  With some dimming electronic ballast manufacturers, there was a problem which caused an overheating and sometimes the bases would melt.  Because of the protection in these lamps, that is no longer possible, so this past safety problem has been solved by Sylvania engineers.

When it comes to lighting up a home or office, compact fluorescent bulbs tend to be the ones chosen more often than other types of bulbs. They are chosen most often because of the great light output and good color along with energy efficiency as well. When compared to incandescent lighting, these are longer lasting, using much less energy making them a perfect choice for almost any type of lighting. There are several kinds of compact types which include the regular household base, some that are plug-in types and some short linear bulbs. As with all fluorescent bulbs, they rely on ballasts inside of the fixtures or units to make them work. The ballast is important because it is specific for each type of lamp. You can't change from one type of fluorescent to another without changing the ballast in most cases. On a rare occasion, there may be a ballast that is made for several different types such as in the case of some commercial plug-in Sylvania Dulux D/E double twin tube lamps. Most of the time, the ballast in the lamp are matched electrically and so it's good to make sure the ballast you have is the right one for the lamp you choose.  You'll find these available in several wattages including 13, 18 and all the way up to 26 watts.

With the advent of higher electrical costs, many businesses are looking for ways to save energy with lighting. Obviously, Sylvania Dulux D/E double twin tube compact fluorescent light bulbs are the perfect choice to replace higher wattage incandescent flood lamps and save energy. You will find a great reduction in your electrical bill while having the ability to dim these compact fluorescents to the desired light levels. Keep an eye out for electric utility rebates in your area which might be available for compact fluorescent light bulbs. This is more prevalent in commercial lighting than it is for residential, as they are a larger user of electricity during the day or high demand times.  In most cases, the Sylvania Dulux D/E has been used in architectural recessed downlighting or can lighting where dimming must be used.  This isn't a bulb you can retrofit, it needs to be a part of a whole new fixture.  For those of you attempting to retrofit with a dimming compact fluorescent, one of our other dimming flood lights would be a better choice for you.  If you want the Dulux D/E, then you will need a specification grade recessed light fixture with the dimming capability.

Remember that there are many types of Sylvania Dulux D/E double twin tube compact fluorescent light bulbs, we describe some of the most common used in home and commercial lighting here. Keep in mind that we also stock all the linear types of fluorescent lamps used in commercial lighting. Whatever type you choose, you will be saving energy while getting the most light you can for your money. We have a large inventory of fluorescent bulbs for nearly every type of light fixture in the field. If you need help identifying a bulb, our customer service representatives can help you determine what you have.
