Sylvania PAR20 halogen light bulbs are a standard for smaller fixtures using
halogen floods. They put a halogen capsule light in a small reflector to
give a great amount of light output while delivering good beam control. The
Sylvania has one of the widest varieties of PAR20 lamps including many wattages
and several beam spreads not typically found in most hardware superstores. As a
part of our complete Sylvania offering, we have all the variations they have.
PAR20 bulbs will often have an elongated neck with a small reflector, just above the Edison (medium) base. The
longer neck makes it possible to use these in fixtures that have some size
constraints and it also looks more appealing for applications where the fixture
does not cover the bulb. Though many PAR20 bulbs are similar, we do believe that the Sylvania product is superior for its
beam patterns and light output. It has a full beam of light without the shadows
or irregularities that some manufacturers of cheap light bulbs might have.
Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs, just like the typical R20 flood bulbs we
have been using in lamps for years and years. Halogen bulbs, however, are filled
with a special gas that actually rebuilds the filament and provides longer
average lifespans than normal incandescent bulbs. They come in different shapes
and sizes for various different uses. The Sylvania PAR20 halogen light bulbs are
flood shaped with the heavy, thick glass that is common to many medium to large
sized halogen bulbs. PAR stands for parabolic aluminized reflector. These types
of bulbs will provide you with a high light output, a more white-colored light
(a higher color temperature - approximately 3000K), and longer life than normal
R or BR reflectors. That is why the halogen are many times used in energy saving
lighting situations because they are more efficient in their light production.
The PAR20 is a good direct replacement for the incandescent R20 lamps that have
been used in track lighting or small recessed cans over the past decades.
Replacing these will give you more light while reducing energy costs.
The Sylvania PAR20 halogen is a
small flood bulb and are not as large as many halogen flood bulbs available. You can
tell what kind of PAR lamp you have by measuring the distance across the widest
point of the bulb. The number after 'PAR' represents the number of eighths of an
inch the bulb diameter is. Therefore, PAR20 lamps are 2 1/2 inches across. PAR20 lamps are widely available from Sylvania, Westinghouse, and most
other small bulb manufacturers. They have standard bases and are able to be used
indoors or outdoors. This means they can be directly exposed to rain or snow and
still function normally and they do not need to be covered by a light fixture.
This makes the PAR20 lamps very versatile and quite handy to use.
Sylvania generally calls their halogen line Capsylite and within that category are many
different configurations of light bulbs. The variety ranges from standard
halogen light
bulbs to bipin halogen to the full spectrum variety called Daylight Plus. There are also track
lighting bulbs, indoor floods and indoor/outdoor PAR floods. Whatever the
lighting need, there probably is a Sylvania lamp that will work correctly in
that situation. ServiceLighting.com is an online light bulb company that
offers the entire Sylvania catalog for purchase over the web. So whether you
need halogen, fluorescent or HID sources, we'll have the right bulb for your
need. In this case, we have the breadth of the entire offering of Sylvania PAR20
halogen light bulbs.
Here's a helpful tip about lighting a space or area with these lamps. Try
to make the area you're attempting to light a true highlight by making the light
there three to five times as bright as the surrounding ambient light. This will
cause attention to be drawn to the highlighted area. In many cases, people will
gravitate toward these areas, so it's good to have product or something
interesting there for people to look at. It sounds simple, but doing this makes
a difference in how you market product or what kind of statement you're making
with what your showing. Another way these lamps can help is with open track
lighting in a low ceiling application. When a ceiling is low, then track
lighting is sometimes hard to manage. But with the Sylvania PAR20 halogen,
you can have a low area and still have a lot of light which won't interfere with
the space or what you're trying to light. In those low areas, you may also
want to consider using their wide flood option to spread the light out as
quickly as possible which is critical in the case of a PAR lamp which has a more
directed beam of light to start with.
From your local retailer to finer homes, you will most likely find a Sylvania
PAR20 halogen lighting your way. The small size of these reflector lamps make it
possible to put them in almost any small space or recessed lighting. Many people also use these halogen
PAR20
bulbs for showcasing trophies, elevator, restaurants, clothing stores, jewelry, art work, sculptures, etc. and when
shown under this light will appear more brilliant. In the case of retail
lighting, the way you light something can make the difference in selling
something or not. Whatever type of lighting need you have, you will be
saving energy while getting the most light you can for your money. We have
a large inventory of halogen bulbs for nearly every type of light fixture in the
field. If you need help identifying the bulb you have, our customer
service representatives can help you determine what you have.
