It makes the bulb much more energy efficient, and in the case of the PAR30, it
allows the wattage to be reduced to 50 watts from the standard 75 watt lamp.
That's a great reduction in energy, reducing your electrical bills while still
getting the light you need. Though many PAR30
bulbs are similar, there's nothing else like this new product from Sylvania.
Though many PAR30 bulbs are similar, we do believe that the Sylvania product is
superior for its beam patterns and light output.
Halogen bulbs are incandescent bulbs, just like the typical R30 flood bulbs we
have been using in lamps for years and years. Halogen bulbs, however, are filled
with a special gas that actually rebuilds the filament and provides longer
average lifespans than normal incandescent bulbs. They come in different shapes
and sizes for various different uses. The Sylvania PAR30 Capsylite IR halogen light bulbs are
flood shaped with the heavy, thick glass that is common to many medium to large
sized halogen bulbs. PAR stands for parabolic aluminized reflector. These types
of bulbs will provide you with a high light output, a more white-colored light
(a higher color temperature - approximately 3000K), and longer life than normal
R or BR reflectors. That is why the halogen are many times used in energy saving
lighting situations because they are more efficient in their light production.
The PAR30 is a good direct replacement for the incandescent R30 or standard
PAR30 halogens that have
been used in track lighting or small recessed cans over the past decades.
Replacing these will give you more light while reducing energy costs.
The Sylvania PAR30 Capsylite IR halogen is a
medium size flood bulb and are not as large the PAR38 halogen flood bulbs available. You can
tell what kind of PAR lamp you have by measuring the distance across the widest
point of the bulb. The number after 'PAR' represents the number of eighths of an
inch the bulb diameter is. Therefore, PAR30 lamps are 3 3/4 inches across. They have standard bases and are able to be used
indoors or outdoors. This means they can be directly exposed to rain or snow and
still function normally and they do not need to be covered by a light fixture.
This makes the PAR30 lamps one of the most versatile halogen lamps whether you
have an indoor or outdoor application. This new lamp is typically 50 watts
replacing the older 75 watt version while delivering the same amount of light.
The code for this lamp is usually something like 50PAR30/CAP/IR
plus the associated beam spread that you would find whether it be wide flood,
narrow flood or spot.
Many people use these halogen PAR30
bulbs for track lighting, recessed cans, restaurants, clothing stores, jewelry, art work, sculptures, etc.
In the case of retail lighting, the way you light something can make the
difference in selling something or not, and the IR has reduced UV output meaning
less fading of products that you're trying to light. We have
a large inventory of halogen bulbs for nearly every type of light fixture in the
field. If you need help identifying a halogen IR bulb or any other you
might need, our customer
service representatives can help you determine what you have.
