There are times when people need a halogen light source to have a protected envelope so there won't be any problems with a violent rupture of the capsule.  That's where the T10 halogen tubular bulbs come into play as they provide a protective outer shell which means they can be put in almost any type of light fixture regardless of whether it is opened or closed type.  These type of halogen bulbs are similar to the single ended halogen that you would find elsewhere at our web site except that you will notice an outer glass envelope which protects from shattering.  When you look at these bulbs, they all look much the same, but there are usually differences in wattages and finishes.  Like all halogen bulbs, they are filled with a special gas that actually rebuilds the filament and provides long life over normal incandescent bulbs.  These halogen lamps burns about 10 percent brighter, whiter, and hotter than normal incandescent bulbs. Extra heat is typically not a benefit, but whiter, bright light is something that is useful in a large number of lighting applications.

T10 halogen tubular light bulbs come in a variety of wattages including 75, 150 or 200 watts and they are 120 volt.  They also have either a clear or frosted finish, which depending on what you're using them in, will make a difference in how the the light is dispersed.  This lamp has a medium base which is the same as a standard household light bulb base, so this will fit into almost any socket.  That being the case, you can use it in places where you need space conserved and you know that it will fit.  One thing to remember is that halogen cannot always go into the same fixture as an incandescent as there may be some limitations by the manufacturer, but generally they can be a direct replacement for incandescent lamps.  The typical code for these bulbs would be something like 75T10, 75T10/HAL, 150T10, 150T10/HAL, 250T10 or 250T10/HAL and so on with a designation of the lamp being frosted or clear.  That's really all there is to it when identifying these tubular lamps.

Unlike other halogen bulbs, these can be touched and will not cause any problem with the operation of the lamp.  The outer glass shell prevents this being a problem and makes them a good halogen that has more flexibility in a higher number of applications.  In fact, any type of bulbs that are covered, like the PAR and some of the MR16 halogen bulbs, are okay to touch, since you are not touching the actual bulb but a heavy, thick glass that covers the light bulb.  Most commonly, they are put into an enclosure but be aware of touching a halogen capsule itself directly, is not a good idea as it will shorten lamp life.  This makes the T10 halogen tubular bulb one of the best choices to get a high light output for recessed lighting or other places where a lot of light may be required.

From recessed lighting, high areas or in a large commercial space, you will most likely find T10 halogen tubular lamps used in many kinds of lighting applications. The compact size of these halogen lamps make it possible to put them in almost any small space and produce high illumination.  By clicking the link above, you'll be taken to a page that has our full offering of this lamp type.  If you're having trouble identifying your bulb, please call us and one of our friendly customer service people will help you!
