Lighting Library : Manufacturers : TCP Light Bulbs

There is one manufacturer that has been more responsible for the development of functional compact fluorescent lighting today and that is TCP.  Although many people may not have heard of TCP light bulbs, they have had more innovations in twist compact fluorescent than any other brand.  One of the best lamps they carry are the twist variety, they have longer life than almost any other brand.  They also have a greater array of colors that can better match what you may have in an office building or in your home.   What is it about TCP that makes them such a great choice for you?  One of the reasons is that they have great warranties and quality control, so you can be sure what you buy is going to be something that you will use for years to come.  The second is the constant innovation which has brought about higher wattages and the wide variety of colors including full spectrum lights which many people like.  The TCP brand is well known throughout the commercial lighting industry as the standard for many types of energy saving bulbs.  In fact, these bulbs are Energy Star compliant and there are many utilities which will issue rebates when you buy TCP.

TCP light bulbs have everything from the standard compact to dimmable compact fluorescent and many people have been concerned about the kind of like that they're working under.  That's why so many people are turning to what is called full spectrum lighting. The term full spectrum is most often used when referring to fluorescents that simulate natural outdoor light. By definition, virtually all fluorescent TCP bulbs are full spectrum in that they contain some of all colors in their spectral range. Full spectrum fluorescents are a great option to get better natural lighting, and are far more effective than the incandescent variety. Color temperature is measured by a term called Kelvin. The 3000 Kelvin would be a warm tone color, 5000 Kelvin would be a white color and 6500 Kelvin would be a blue/white color. Most of the full spectrum TCP light bulbs use a slightly blue phosphor coating.  There are also TCP flood lights, outdoor and dimmable types that are used for specific lighting applications.  Most of what we stock is in the TCP 5000K full spectrum which is a direct cross to any other manufacturer with the same color temperature.

As mentioned before, the most popular TCP bulbs are the twist or spiral compact fluorescent.  The shape is similar across the line, but the physical size is what changes when the wattage changes.  The more watts the lamp uses, the size is also going to be larger.  This is the nature of compact fluorescent technology where there must be a certain length of tube in order to have enough phosphor to emit light.  So when you have small fixtures, you might be limited to how much light that you can have in that area.  So it's important to understand your situation with existing light fixtures or even those you intend on buying.  If you're going to use compact fluorescent, you need to make sure that you have enough room to get the illumination effect you want.

If you've decided on TCP light bulbs, you've made a great choice for saving energy for many years to come.  For your home or commercial building to hotel lighting, you will most likely find these energy saving bulbs in service. There are many types of TCP bulbs, we describe just some of the most common used in home and commercial lighting here.  There is a wide selection and it would be good for you to visit that area of our web site which will give you the many choices available to you.  Whatever wattage or color you choose, you will be saving energy while getting the most light you can for your money.  If you need help identifying a  bulb that you need to replace, our customer service representatives can help you determine what you have.
